However, if you are working with large images, using the old system may be more efficient.
In this book, I use Photoshop to illustrate all the examples and show you how to manipulate the layers. Photoshop's layer-based system is much easier to use than the old method of working with images. After each layer is moved, you need to position it accurately and then create a new layer to create a new layer. All the layers make up an image and are positioned one on top of another, so that you can move individual layers. This approach works by creating different layers, which can be moved and manipulated independently. Photoshop CS employs a layer-based approach to image manipulation (see Figure 2-1). Check out `for more information on Photoshop CS. The latest version of Photoshop is Photoshop CS, which is available as a downloadable program for Windows or Mac. Read Chapter 8 to find out about using Photoshop in conjunction with other applications, including opening and saving images in Photoshop. However, you can work in Photoshop using Windows software. Newer versions of Photoshop are Windows and Mac only.
